Appworks Demo Day 5 and new views!

Last week, we attended Appworks' Demo Day 5!
To all those who don't have a clue of what it was or is, it's a demo day: "show day" as I would call it... for the teams and their products in the Appworks internet start-up incubator in Taiwan.

Once arriving at the venue hall after a hardy lunch, we were met with a pretty huge promotion for WeChat (Weixin in Chinese). This is of course a bit scary and also the same time interesting since WeChat is a Chinese mobile device messenger program that is "stepping out" of its domestic market. It's amazing to see something that I used back in college ( and still in the beta stage), now being pushed into the global market.

For the rest of the day, we sat and listened to the different teams present their projects and products. I have to say that I was amazed.
Some of the teams created internet products and tools that could rival those on the global stage, and some already are! There is one game called: Slap That Zombie! which uses the ipad camera to capture hand movements and gestures and translate it into in-game responses, and in this case: slapping a zombie! haha! Other amazing projects ranged from cloud based education platforms to travel sharing journals and diaries.
We at, were invited to view and also give our suggestions to some of the teams. At the same time, we were there to support our friends such as:!
All in all, it was a great day and inspirational to see so many young people striving for a better tomorrow!

Last week, I was also blessed with a new monitor. My old monitor (as seen at the bottom photo) suddenly died. I was left to multitasking on a single screen, which was unpleasant and difficult. Seeing me in such distress, our managers decided to provide with a new large screen monitor to keep me going at full speed! thank you Patisco!

Well, back to work for me! will be back to write more! ciao!
